It’s getting exciting!
Three weeks to go, and an independent poll of likely Republican primary voters released Tuesday finds Attorney General Mike Cox, US Representative Pete Hoekstra, and Ann Arbor businessman Rick Snyder in a three-way tie for the lead. Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard is a distant fourth and state Sen. Tom George is out of contention, according to a poll conducted by Mitchell Research & Communications of East Lansing and reported on Freep.com.
Cox, Hoekstra and Snyder each registered 18% in the survey, with Bouchard at 9% and George at 1%. However, 34% were “undecided” in the poll of 895 GOP voters conducted July 1-6. The poll’s margin of error was 3.25%.
“Here we are about three weeks out … and we have no clear leader,” said Steve Mitchell, chairman of the company who conducted the poll.
According to Freep.com, Mitchell conducted a separate survey of 445 likely Democratic primary voters, which showed state House Speaker Andy Dillon leading Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero 35%-15%, with 50% undecided.
