With just three weeks remaining until the August 3 Primary Election, four of the five GOP candidates for Governor debated on Tuesday night at Oakland University in Rochester. Noticeably absent was Ann Arbor businessman Rick Snyder who held town hall meetings in Grand Rapids and Grand Ledge.
If Snyder loses the election, I’ll point directly at his decision to not attend the two GOP-sponsored debates. My money’s on Snyder because of the money factor — I think you’ll see a lot of media buys from his campaign over the next three weeks — but if Attorney General Mike Cox or US Representative Pete Hoekstra win, it’s because Snyder opened the door by skipping the debates. Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard and state Senator Tom George aren’t viable candidates at this point.
