Here’s a national fundraising appeal Pete Hoekstra sent out this morning under the Subject line, “Liberals cry racism in Michigan.”

Doubling down on his denial of racial-insensitivity in his Super Bowl TV spot, Hoekstra states, “The ad is only insensitive to Debbie Stabenow and her spending,” and goes on to blast the “establishment,” the “Left,” and the “media elites” for “(trying) to change the subject.”

Maybe Pete is so tone deaf and sheltered he doesn’t really see anything wrong with his ad.

Maybe he’s so desperate for attention and to raise campaign cash that he’s resorting to a PR ploy like this.

Maybe he’s just to darn stubborn to admit he made a mistake.

One thing’s for sure: Michigan can, and must, do better than Pete Hoekstra.
